Getting Started

Getting up and running with Happy Waiver takes just a few minutes. Create your free account — no credit card required. Your first 100 signatures are free, giving you plenty of room to set up and test your waivers before committing to a plan.

Once you sign in, you will be taken to your dashboard. From there you can create your first waiver document, invite team members, and configure your business profile.

Creating Waivers

Happy Waiver gives you three ways to create a waiver document, depending on your starting point.

Blank Waiver (Drag-and-Drop Editor)

Start from scratch with our visual editor. Drag and drop blocks onto the canvas to build your waiver exactly how you want it. The editor supports 16 block types:

  • Personal Information — Name, Email, Phone Number, Birthday, and Address blocks collect signer details.
  • Signatures & Initials — Capture legally binding digital signatures and initials directly on-screen.
  • Content — Rich Text blocks let you add waiver language, terms, and formatting. Image blocks add visual content. Divider blocks separate sections.
  • Questions & Choices — Checkbox, Single Choice, Multi Choice, Short Answer, and Date Selector blocks let you collect custom information from signers.
  • Minors — A dedicated Minors block allows adults to sign on behalf of children, collecting guardian and minor information together.

Every block can be marked as required or optional. Reorder blocks by dragging them up or down. Preview your waiver at any time before publishing.

Create from PDF

Already have a paper waiver? Upload a PDF and Happy Waiver converts it into an editable digital waiver. You can then add interactive fields — signatures, checkboxes, text inputs — on top of your existing document layout.

Create from Template

Browse our template library for ready-to-use waivers tailored to specific industries. Templates are fully customizable — use them as-is or modify them to match your business. We have templates for gyms, yoga studios, adventure parks, events, and more.

Distributing Waivers

Once your waiver is published, you need to get it in front of your customers. Happy Waiver supports multiple distribution methods so you can reach signers wherever they are.

Links & QR Codes

Every published waiver gets a unique URL. Share it directly via text, email, or social media. You can also generate a QR code that links to your waiver — print it on signage, flyers, or display it at a front desk for walk-in customers to scan and sign.

Add tags to your distribution links to track where signatures are coming from (e.g., "front-desk", "website", "instagram").

List-Based Distribution

For events or classes where you know your participants in advance, create a distribution list. Add participants by name and email, then track who has signed and who still needs a reminder. This is especially useful for events, group activities, and scheduled classes.

Website Embedding

Embed your waiver directly on your website so visitors can sign without leaving your site. Copy the embed code from your distribution settings and paste it into your website's HTML.

Managing Submissions

Every signed waiver becomes a submission in your dashboard. Happy Waiver stores all submissions securely and makes them easy to find.

Search & Filter

Find any submission instantly. Search by signer name, email address, phone number, or birthday. Filter by date range or specific waiver document. Results appear in real time as you type.

Check-In System

When a customer arrives, your staff can check them in directly from the dashboard. The check-in system creates an audit trail showing which team member checked in each customer and when — useful for attendance tracking and liability verification.

Waiver Expiration

Set waivers to expire automatically after a specific period. Expired submissions are flagged so you know when a customer needs to re-sign. Expiration windows vary by plan tier — from 1 day up to unlimited duration.

Notes & Annotations

Add internal notes to any submission or customer record. Notes are visible only to your team and are useful for tracking special accommodations, incidents, or follow-up actions.

Team Management

Invite your team so multiple people can manage waivers, check in customers, and review submissions.

Roles & Permissions

Happy Waiver uses three permission levels:

  • Owner — Full access to everything: documents, submissions, billing, settings, and team management.
  • Admin — Can manage documents, view submissions, check in customers, and access distribution tools. Cannot manage billing or delete the business.
  • Member — Read-only access to submissions and check-in capabilities. Ideal for front-desk staff.

Inviting Team Members

Go to Settings > Team Members to invite people by email. They will receive an invitation to join your business account. The number of team members you can invite depends on your plan.

API Keys

For developers who want to integrate Happy Waiver with other tools, generate API keys from Settings > API Keys. Each key can be set to "All" (read and write) or "Read Only" access. See our API documentation for endpoint details.

Plans & Billing

Happy Waiver offers flexible plans to fit businesses of every size. All plans include access to the full feature set — the difference is in volume and limits.

Plan Tiers

We offer five plan levels — Cent, Launch, Scale, Elevate, and Storage Only. Each tier includes a set number of monthly submissions, team member slots, and waiver expiration windows. Visit our pricing page for a detailed comparison.

Prepaid Credits

Need extra submissions beyond your plan limit? Purchase prepaid credit packs instead of upgrading. Credits are available in packs of 100 and never expire. Use them as overflow when you hit your monthly limit.

Free Trial

Every new account starts with 100 free submissions — no credit card required. Once you have used your free signatures, choose a plan that fits your volume. No contracts, cancel anytime.

Security & Compliance

Protecting your customers' data is a top priority. Happy Waiver is built with enterprise-grade security features.

  • Encryption — All data is encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest. Your waivers and customer information are never stored in plaintext.
  • Multi-Factor Authentication — Enable MFA on your account for an extra layer of login security.
  • Digital Signatures — Signatures captured through Happy Waiver are legally binding electronic signatures. Each submission records the signer's IP address, timestamp, and browser information for evidentiary purposes.
  • Email & Phone Validation — Verify signer email addresses and phone numbers via SMS to ensure accurate contact information.
  • Secure Storage — Signed waivers are stored securely and accessible to authorized team members only. Waivers are retained for as long as your account is active.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I create my first waiver?

Sign up for a free account, click 'Create Document' from your dashboard, choose blank, PDF upload, or template, then use the drag-and-drop editor to add fields like name, email, signature, and custom questions.

How do I share my waiver with customers?

Go to the Distribute tab in your dashboard. You can share via a direct link, generate a QR code for physical locations, or create a distribution list to send waivers to specific contacts by email.

How do I find a signed waiver?

Use the Submissions tab in your dashboard. Search by name, email, phone number, or date range. You can also filter by document and view check-in history.

Can multiple people manage our waivers?

Yes. Invite team members from Settings > Team Members. Assign roles — Owner has full access, Admin can manage documents and submissions, and Member has read-only access.

What happens when a waiver expires?

Expired waivers are automatically flagged and moved to suspended status. You can configure expiration periods per document. Higher-tier plans support longer expiration windows.

Is my data secure?

Yes. All data is encrypted at rest and in transit. We support multi-factor authentication (MFA) for account access. Digital signatures are legally binding and tamper-evident.
